Senior Technician – Power Adapters

Type: Full-time

Reports To: Director of Systems Engineering

Location: Toronto or San Diego

We are looking for a Senior Technician with strong background in the field of switchmode power supplies, to join our AC/DC Power Management business unit.

Experience

• 2 Year Degree
• 5+ years soldering experience; 10+ preferred
• Bench testing experience expected
• Experience winding transformers is a huge plus
• Flyback transformer and magnetic component construction
• Ability to solder fine-pitch SMD and at least 0603 footprint components
• Experience in working with EMS
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Core competencies and responsibilities

• Your work will be critical to the success of the AC-DC power business and your responsibilities will include:
  • Winding and characterizing flyback magnetic transformers, common-mode chokes and inductors
  • Assembling and soldering high-power density prototypes
  • Working with EMS for higher volume manufacturing of various reference designs
  • Conducting thermal studies with and without power adapter cases
  • Generating acceptance test reports for reference designs before they are shipped to customers for sampling
